19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to force a decider.
Moutet rescued four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
